Maureen Freyne Fine Art

Because of my personal background in Catholicism and the historical importance of churches in New Mexico, I have traveled extensively throughout the rural villages of northern New Mexico painting churches.  I incorporate personal and religious symbols into my paintings and I enjoy painting these adobe churches in a colorful whimsical style because it is more fun to paint them in that manner than in their current state of disrepair.  Perhaps my portrayal will focus attention and inspire restoration of the historic sacred sites.  Once upon a time these old adobe churches were a vital part of these communities.
